Wiggenhall St Mary (443)

This is another CCT church and is really quite large. The font has a lovely cover that has a pelican on the top. In mediaeval times it was believed that the pelican would feed her young with blood from her own breast. This sounds horrible to me; not to mention unhygienic and sticky! Uncle Les took a close-up of the pelican for me (see right). It looks a bit dusty!

This village is not to be confused with Wiggenhall St Germans, Wiggenhall St Peter or even Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalene (good grief!) all of which are within 5 miles!
