Burrough on the Hill (464)

Burrough on the Hill (464)

Big Ted sitting on a fontThis is a lovely St Mary's and I actually managed to get inside it, which was nice.

The font is old and has got lots of lovely carving on it, which you can see in the photo [it's early 13th century, Big Ted]. There was also a chappie having a snooze near the window behind me which I didn't expect. It somehow made me very sleepy... [At the east end of the south aisle is the stone effigy of a man in armour, his feet resting on a lion. This is thought to represent William Stockton (d1470), Big Ted]
