This is another former church looked after by the nice people at the Churches Conversation Trust [This is getting tiresome, Big Ted]. It's in the middle of Bungay (which is a funny name) and when I visited there was a man playing the piano just for me, to celebrate my 500th St Mary's church! [I think you'll remember he was actually practicing for a lunchtime recital, Big Ted.]. I sat on a table in front of the font 'cos there was a big arrangement of flowers in the way.
This church is also called The Priory Church of St Mary, Bungay and there used to be nuns living here. The bit they lived in is all broken down though, but the main church seems to be in one piece.
For your information, Big Ted: The present church of St Mary is the parochial nave, aisles and tower of the priory church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Cross, built for an order of Benedictine nuns.
