The sign for this St Mary's was behind a wet shrub so Uncle Les couldn't take a picture of me beside it. There was also a notice board, but it was a bit scruffy. Instead, I sat on the interpretation board (speedily dried off by Auntie Fiona) and read about the church. I got a bit damp 'cos it was drizzling by now [I sat on the radiator when we got back to the cottage and dried off various furry parts].
This is a very big church and is another one with the tower in the middle. What's more, the ringers must stand on the ground floor and ring in front of everyone. Auntie Fiona (who used to ring) says that this is very tricky, 'cos the ropes up to the bells are very, very long and can wobble around a lot. Also, if you go wrong, you can't say rude things 'cos people might be watching.
There is lots of very special glass in this church and "it is unique in having a near complete set of original medieval windows (installed around 1500)". At least that's what the man said.
