For some reason, this village is also called "Shipton Sollars " (a bit confusing!). This St Mary's is looked after by the nice people at the Churches Conservation Truss (CCT). [You nearly got it right this time, it's TRUST, Big Ted] The church was built in the 13th century and then in the 1880s it was used as a cowshed! They've cleared out the cows, cleaned it up and it's quite int'resting inside now.
It has a giant egg timer by the pulpit (see right) so you can cook your breakfast while the vicar is doing his stuff. [Sigh, Big Ted. It's an hourglass - I think your egg would be overcooked. In the late 1600s the sermon was expected to last at least an hour.]
