Travels of a Bear (with splendid fur!)

A Suffolk (and Norfolk) adventure

Added on 16 May 2024

Hello again dear Reader.

I hope you are well and enjoying the varied weather (I hate the rain 'cos it makes my splendid fur damp and sort of sticky)!

Big Ted at Bungay churchI've just come back from a lovely holiday in Suffolk, where I visited 15 new (or rather old) St Mary's churches. I also visited 6 churches in Norfolk. But the most exciting thing is that I visited my 500th St Mary's church! That's a lot of churches in just 9 years. My 500th was The Priory Church of St Mary which is in Bungay in Suffolk (just). You can see it in the picture on the left.

Big Ted and a bear at Mellis churchI didn't meet many humans in this trip, but I did meet a bear who was sitting in the pulpit at Mellis church. I'm not sure if he was meant to be there, or if he had sneaked in while no-one was watching, but he seemed to like it. We had a long chat about the perils of being a bear ("falling incidents", snapping dogs, unruly children) and how tricky it is to type stuff with big paws.

The weather was sunny so on the third day of my holiday I decided to take off my lovely cardigan and show off my not-yet-grubby-but-there's-still-time white T-shirt.

You can read all about the churches I've visited on my Suffolk and Norfolk pages. Click on a picture to read more about the church.

I've heard rumours that I may be visiting other St Mary's churches later this year, but I've also been told not to get excited and 500 churches is prob'ly quite enough for any bear. Personally, I think 1000 is a nice round number, but don't tell Uncle Les or Auntie Fiona.

P.S. As an extra treat, Uncle Les has created a special image of me at one of these churches on my Can you find me? page. So, can you find me? And for a bonus point, can you tell which church I'm at? (- or not!)
