A Suffolk (and Norfolk) adventure
Added on 16 May 2024
Hello again dear Reader.
I hope you are well and enjoying the varied weather (I hate the rain 'cos it makes my splendid fur damp and sort of sticky)!
I've just come back from a lovely holiday in Suffolk, where I visited 15 new (or rather old) St Mary's churches. I also visited 6 churches in Norfolk. But the most exciting thing is that I visited my 500th St Mary's church! That's a lot of churches in just 9 years. My 500th was The Priory Church of St Mary which is in Bungay in Suffolk (just). You can see it in the picture on the left.
I didn't meet many humans in this trip, but I did meet a bear who was sitting in the pulpit at Mellis church. I'm not sure if he was meant to be there, or if he had sneaked in while no-one was watching, but he seemed to like it. We had a long chat about the perils of being a bear ("falling incidents", snapping dogs, unruly children) and how tricky it is to type stuff with big paws.
The weather was sunny so on the third day of my holiday I decided to take off my lovely cardigan and show off my not-yet-grubby-but-there's-still-time white T-shirt.
You can read all about the churches I've visited on my Suffolk and Norfolk pages. Click on a picture to read more about the church.
I've heard rumours that I may be visiting other St Mary's churches later this year, but I've also been told not to get excited and 500 churches is prob'ly quite enough for any bear. Personally, I think 1000 is a nice round number, but don't tell Uncle Les or Auntie Fiona.
Love from
Big Ted
P.S. As an extra treat, Uncle Les has created a special image of me at one of these churches on my Can you find me? page. So, can you find me? And for a bonus point, can you tell which church I'm at? (- or not!)
